GrowTray KIT LEAN TO HIGH | If you have a GrowCamp lean-to bed, it is worthwhile buying this set with 2 trays and a stand. This will give you the perfect seed tray organizer - alongside your tomatoes or cucumbers. The two planting trays each measure 64 cm in length and 37 cm in width. They can each hold 1 litre of water in the grooves. They are supplied with capillary mats, which are placed in the bottom of the planting trays. The capillary mats draw up and distribute the water from the tray to the plants. This way you won't need to water as often and avoid individual pots drying out too quickly. The planting trays are not fixed to the stand, allowing you to easily move the plants. Usually you would start by growing seedlings indoors and the planting trays are especially suitable for standing on the windowsill. Advice for tying up tomatoes Use strong garden twine or something similar that doesn't cut into the plant. Start by tying a large loop round the stem almost right down at the root. Then tie another loop, which can be untied later, quite tightly to the plant support rail. Make sure there is an extra 1 metre of string, before cutting it off. You then twist the tomato plant gently around the plant support string, as the plant grows. When it has reached the ceiling, loosen the loop on the plant support rail and gently lower the plant 15 cm, or whatever is needed, and fasten the string again. You can safely cut off the lower leaves of the plant, they are not necessary. You continue in this way until August, at which point you cut off the top of the plant. This is done to ensure that the plant uses its energy on the tomatoes which have already been formed, before the season is over - instead of forming new ones which won't have time to develop. | ||
