Description
Supplied with insect net for the front and plastic covering to all four sides. At the front the net and plastic can be rolled up.
Materials
The frame of the raised bed is of strong 25 mm plastic panels, manufactured from pure new PVC which, as opposed to recycled plastic, contains no lead or other undesirable materials. The panels have inner slats that make the sides rigid, so they can withstand the pressure of a large volume of soil. In beds of more than 120 cm in length, the sides are connected with galvanised support rails across the bed. This reinforces the construction.
The cavities in the panels have an insulating effect, resulting in higher temperatures in the bed at night.
The upper structure is also made of PVC, with galvanized or aluminium rails used as support between the rafters. The support rails can easily be removed, when working in the bed.
As an optional extra you can buy the self-watering system GrowWater. It is supplied as a 15 cm high unit, which is placed at the bottom of the bed. It holds 180 litres of water and as such can provide your plants with water for at least 1-2 weeks at the height of summer.
If using self-watering, the bed can hold approx. 85 litres of soil.
If you don’t want to fill the entire raised bed with soil, you can purchase soil troughs no. FC3810. It has a height of 15 cm and contains 80 litres of soil.
